Questions and Answers

I might as well ask now... when can we put San Diego on a PDI?
-- Steven MacDonald
It became available shortly after the webinar on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

We are apart of the Early Adopters Program with SN, we generally begin our upgrade mid-Feb, when will the early adopters release be available. Currently, we only see that the RTP release is available.
-- Karen Watson
Early access became available shortly after the webinar on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there any improvements to the Survey engine and Virtual Agent?
-- Jose Sandiego
I don't know. I didn't have a chance to check those out this time around. I recommend checking the San Diego release notes on the docs site. https://docs.servicenow.com
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will show xml be in Next Experience UI
-- Matt Hedtke
Yes, the form, list, and context menus haven't changed in San Diego's implementation of Next Experience on the standard lists and forms.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there still a spot for the update set and app scope picker on the top bar?
-- Mark Amann
That has been a very common request. If it hasn't already been asked in the idea portal, feel free to add it. https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=ideas_list&sysparm_module_id=enhancement_requests
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does ATF allow to store the ticket created and use it in subsequent steps like look-up on portal etc.
-- Veena Harikumar
Short answer - yes.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Do you still prefer update sets or application repo?
-- Robert Marentette
I'm all-in on the app repo. The only thing I use update sets for is if I need to share an app with someone externally, and even them I'll likely give them a GitHub link they can clone instead.
-- Chuck Tomasi

on flow designer when we will get an option to resume a flow from an error instead of re-running the flow from start ?
-- Michaël Collignon
Sounds like a great use case for a try/catch section. I invite you to look at that new in San Diego.
-- Chuck Tomasi

How much customization can we do compare to service portal configuration and custom development?
-- Hardik Shah
I'm not sure I understand your question. If you can rephrase (and perhaps include pictures) in the comments below, we may be able to provide you with a better answer.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Good morning chaps - whats the system property to turn on the 'next' experience for upgraded instances?
-- Jon Adlum
Set the property glide.ui.polaris.experience to true
-- Chuck Tomasi

Love both features in AtF. Great additions
-- Steve Fox
Agreed! Thanks for the feedback!
-- Jeremy Duncan

What would you recommend for older applications not using app engine as the development tool? As some are using workflow editor and not flow designer.
-- Mary Claire Cenir
Hi Mary! Studio Dev we'd recommend. AES is not required to modify/build apps. You can still use things like Flow Designer and Integration hub without AES.
-- Jeremy Duncan

How does this work when we have multiple developers working on same App. Can we control what we want to publish via App repo or not.
-- Rashmi Panigrahi
This is a question that happens quite a bit. You have to choose when you're building an app, but there are reasons to still use update sets, but i'd try to use them only on an as-needed basis. For instance, you need to change SN OOB Scoped Apps....Update
-- Jeremy Duncan

Do we have anything for version controlling in flow?
-- Ripal Patel
Aside from using Source Control within Studio, I haven't heard of anything at this point. Sounds like a great suggestion for the idea portal (at the top of this page.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

IS RPA something we install in the OS or it only runs inside Servicenow?
-- Santosh Sahoo
RPA will be installed on a Windows Server.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Will a link to this TechNow presentation be made available for participants following this session?
-- Kevin Boykin
Yes. You can find it at https://devlink.sn/tn93blog, but if you clicked through your email link, you're already there.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Has ATF commands also been updated with new menus, i.e. application navigator commands
-- leon reynolds
Not yet. It's on the roadmap.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Why is the Convert to App repo UI action visible on DEV instances? Is there any use case scenario for it there?
-- Andre Navarro
No use case that I can think of. I suspect it's available only because the author doesn't know which of your subprod instances is dev vs. test.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Glad to see ".list" works in the Next UI. Is the same true of LIST, form, FORM, config, CONFIG, filter and FILTER?
-- Christopher Hughes
Yes.
-- Chuck Tomasi

it looks very nice! Does this NEXT is replacing the ServiceNow platform for all users?
-- Steven Chaparro
It's a refresh for the standard lists and forms and moving more towards the workspace experience. Anyone who is using the left navigation menu today would be affected if you turned it on.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can the update set picker be pinned in the header?
-- Troy Jensen
Not at this time. It is a common request and if it hasn't already been put in the idea portal (at the top of this page) I recommend you start a new thread to get it in and tell your friends to upvote it.
-- Chuck Tomasi

The next platform uses Angular?
-- Vitor Taddei
No, Angular is deprecated. While we will continue to support Angular Portals for enterprise use, we are moving to Next Experience to build portals and workspaces in UIB.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Hi, are global UI scripts supported in Next experience?
-- Jakub Pobiecky
Since the basic structure of the classic lists and forms hasn't changed, UI scripts still work there. Regarding workspaces, the answer is no.
-- Chuck Tomasi

San Diego Documentation link is not working.
-- Eric Gauthier
It went live later in the day on Feb 3, 2022 (US time.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

What's new in ITOM Service Mapping, Discovery, Event Management etc. ?
-- Viswanath Koganti
Sorry, I can't help you with that one. It's outside the scope of this webinar. I only have enough time to focus on the App Engine, Automation Engine, and Platform features in San Diego. Keep an eye on the community and other announcements for upcoming webinars/presentations on our other products.
-- Chuck Tomasi

For Catalog Order Guide Sequencing is it possible to take the output of the first request and put them in the following requests? For example, create an account and then set the Requested for with that account for the following requests?
-- Arya Bounyavet
Great question. It goes beyond my understanding of Process Automation Designer at this point. I would think if you record the results back to the RITM (e.g. the account created) that other records in the process can act on it. I recommend using a PDI and do some testing then share what you find with the community.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will we start to see more dynamic stages to accurately represent what path the flow takes?
-- Aaron Braun
I haven't heard. I love the idea. I suggest putting that in the Idea Portal (see the top of the page on the community.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Do we have to migrate users to this new interface? How long will we be able to remain on the existing desktop interface? We have a TON of users we'd have to train...
-- Chris Diorio
With an upgrade, you will be able to stay on UI16 for quite a while. There's no 'forced' upgrade, but at some point we may stop supporting UI16 and providing fixes. Fortunately if you activate it now, the transition is actually pretty incremental.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does the new UI support mouse column resizing?
-- John Skiba
Workspaces do, but the standard lists do not.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Show Matching/filter out are still available in the list? Group By is still available on field in the list?
-- Ionut Carp
Yes, all those things are still available right where you expect.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are app engine apps editable in studio and vice versa?
-- Kaniel Battles
Yes as long as they were started in App Engine Studio. Not all apps created in Studio can be modified in AES. You need to run a "conversion" to make them available in AES.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Do we have any cool updates for virtual agent
-- ALURU VISVA SAI SRIKANTH
Unfortunately I didn't have time to research that topic. I suspect the Virtual Agent Academy will be coming out with content soon on the community YouTube channel. Watch for announcements in the community.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When are update sets completely going away?
-- Tegan Lee
I haven't heard a plan to completely shut them off. They are still an underlying technology in managing things like stashes. We're just coming out with betters ways to manage updates between instances so eventually it would be like a horse and buggy - sure you can still get one, but it's not going to be as effective as driving a car, flying in a plane, and so on.
-- Chuck Tomasi

I am REALLY interested in the Robot thing. RPA. Is that a new licensing? Subscription we have to sign up for? or is it being folded into Integration Hub?
-- Charlie Elite
Hi Charlie. RPA Hub is part of the Automation Engine licensing. Work with your account team for more info on pricing and licensing. Thanks.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Agent workspace, any significant changes here?, also what about Virtual Agent and associated NLU
-- Atif Pervez
Unfortunately I didn't have the time to research those.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Question regarding the Retry Policy, which you just showed. Normally the REST Message step can be associated to HTTP Default Retry Policy which has retry times. What is the difference with that?
-- Dimitar Stanchev
Great question. I realized I wasn't very clear. Here's the notes from what I got when the product team presented it. It appears it supported the "Retry-After" headers, which was not previously available. New retry policy strategy that honors "Retry-After" header in HTTP response for SOAP and REST steps New system property that controls the max time a retry policy can take Retry-After header may occur if the service is unavailable or throttled Not supported for Data Stream actions or non-SOAP/REST steps Use the "Honor Retry-After Header" when configuring a retry policy Retry Info section added to the ops view/execution details (only if a retry policy is defined)
-- Chuck Tomasi

for next experience, you mentioned a system property. once enabled, is it enabled for all users or will a user opt into it once it is enabled.
-- David Littlejohn
Like other system properties, once it's on, it's on. Users cannot opt out directly (without the aid of an admin modifying their user preference.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will the new UI handle the records that are hidden due to security better? for example cases that are filtered because of COE rules.
-- Louie Gomez
It certainly seems to. I impersonated Abel Tuter and went to incident.list and only saw 8 records, no warnings/errors (and I know there's more).
-- Chuck Tomasi

will favorites have an ability to modify the name and icon?
-- Marik Daniel
Yes. This was possible before (pencil at the bottom of the favorites list in UI16), it's now near the top of the menu and the UI is MUCH better.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

what about agent workspace ? custom ui develompent?
-- Ran keselman
I'm not clear what the question is here. If you can elaborate in the comments, I can try to get you an answer.
-- Chuck Tomasi

So - in Flow designer, the flow variables have names linked to the step that created the variable.
-- David Mawer
I'm not sure I caught the question on that statement. Can you rephrase in the comments below?
-- Chuck Tomasi

what is the URL to San Diego docs
-- Rui Cavalheiro
https://docs.servicenow.com. It went live later in the day on Feb 3, 2022 (US time)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will RPA Hub usage require Integration Hub Enterprise?
-- Preethi Premnath
At this time I'm not clear on the licensing between RPA Hub, Integration Hub, and the overarching Automation Engine licensing. Check with your account team for full details.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does list finally sort visible records to the fromt (based on ACLs, users sees hint the records are moved because of security restrictions to see more records than on page 2, 3 4 ..)?
-- Michael Bankwitz
With the new UI, that security constraints message is no longer and issue.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will Next Experience still support the custom UI Pages we've created for the Native UI? Who's the audience for this UI - requesters, agents, admins?
-- Andre Navarro
A1: Yes, for the standard lists and forms, UI pages and UI macros are supported. A2: The audience is anyone who currently uses UI16 for standard lists and forms.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will the release notes be available? I do not see them currently.
-- Karen Bess
They became available shortly after the webinar on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

any new features/capabilities for automating localization in san diego?
-- Mike Stockman
Hey Mike! Great question! I'm not seeing any enhancements in San Diego for localization automation (officially), however am seeing some conversation about Bulk Translation support for Localization Framework to come. Not sure on release date, but seeing work being done. Keep in mind that, in Quebec, this spoke was introduced: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/rome-platform-administration/page/administer/localization-framework/concept/xtm-spoke.html | NOTE: Would require a subscription with an external service. If you have any cool ideas, i'd recommend you submit them via our Idea portal to hopefully gain traction. I'd also recommend checking out our store to see if a partner has come up with a solution as well: https://store.servicenow.com/sn_appstore_store.do#!/store/search?listingtype=allintegrations%253Bancillary_app%253Bcertified_apps%253Bcontent%253Bindustry_solution%253Boem%253Butility%253Btemplate&q=localization
-- Jeremy Duncan

Are there any sessions on ITSM, ITAM and ITOM changes with San Diego release?
-- Praveen Gopu
Yes. Look for more webinars coming up in the community and on our corp ServiceNow YouTube channel.
-- Chuck Tomasi

is there a beginning of Service Portal integration with Now Experience or a kind of UI Builder to create a web components from scratch and store it in a Service Portal page?
-- Ludovic LARCHE
Service Portal and Next Experience are two completely different (and incompatible) technologies. Outside of using iframes (which is often frowned upon), there's no integration.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Was there a system property to see the flow diagrammer?
-- Paul McNamara
Not a system property, it's a plugin that gets activated called "Flow Diagramming".
-- Chuck Tomasi

Docs do not have SanDiego up yet!!
-- Poonam Asuthkar
It went live later in the day on Feb 3, 2022 (US time)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can I put company theme in Next experience?
-- Swarnadeep Nandy
Soon.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Eager to see the release notes for SD...any eta? Thanks for all the hard work!
-- Elias Karamitsos
Release notes and San Diego docs were made available shortly after we aired this live. You can find them at https://docs.servicenow.com
-- Chuck Tomasi

When this recorder will be available
-- Naveen Ganji
If you are reading this, the recording is available on the community at https://devlink.sn/tn93blog
-- Chuck Tomasi

This new UI, does it require more computer resoucres? I mean, is it faster than previous UI or it will eat up more memory
-- Santosh Sahoo
I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that it's slower/faster or more/less memory than the old UI. It's still pretty new (to me at least) so more testing is required. Please let us know if you discover otherwise.
-- Chuck Tomasi

How do I enable Next Experience on my upgraded SAN DIEGO instance?
-- Rajendher Mangalarapu
Ensure the property glide.ui.polaris.experience is set to true.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does the next experience need to have all code with a UI type of Mobile/Service Portal ?
-- Susan Abraham
I'm not sure I understand the question. Can you clarify in the comments below or start a new thread on the community asking the wider audience? Thanks.
-- Chuck Tomasi

How many new Now Components are available in the San Diego UI Builder release ?
-- Andy Smith
Short answer - I haven't counted. You can find them all here if you want to count them. https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do#!/reference/now-experience/components?releases[]=sandiego&availability[]=Available&query=&order_by=nameAsc&limit=120&offset=0&categories[]=uib_component&categories[]=uib_macroponent-component&categories[]=uib_facades
-- Chuck Tomasi

version control is only available via Studio for scoped apps... right?
-- Ken Shaw
Not so. As of Quebec, you can manage any app with source control in Studio.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Under what edition of Integration Hub will RPA Hub be available? Standard, Professional...
-- William Quash
Not sure. That's a great question for your account team.
-- Chuck Tomasi

I am new to ServiceNow beyond a regular user. Is there integration with Azure DevOps?
-- Callistus Lucien
Short answer, yes. We have several Integration Hub spokes available on our store.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there any option in San Diego to re-trigger any existing workflows that are stuck from that stage and not from start
-- Vani T
Check the Workflow script API. I seem to recall something that would let you "kick" the workflow back into action, but it's literally been years since I worked the old workflows.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can we borrow Service Now templates as a starting point?
-- Marty Spallone
If you're talking about Flow templates, then yes, you can use any flow as a template. If you are referring to app templates, we provide several in AES ready to go. If I have misunderstood, please clarify in the comments below. Thank you.
-- Chuck Tomasi

What is that intro song I need it for my work playlist lol
-- Joshua Herron
It's an edited version of a stock clip in GarageBand (Mac).
-- Chuck Tomasi

Do you have a "best estimate" for General Availability for SD release
-- Steve Fox
Currently, the release date for San Diego GA is March 23, 2022.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Hi Guys! The San Diego link documentation doen
-- Paulo Praxedes
It went live later in the day on Feb 3, 2022 (US time.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

RE Citizen Enablement - how do we restrict various components in AES? We don't want to allow them access to all of the capabilities such as portal development, mobile apps, etc.
-- Johnathan Webb
Take a look at Delegated Developer privileges. You can do that with the collaboration features in AES which are using delegate dev functions.
-- Chuck Tomasi

ATF is a licensed product or available to all?
-- Mahshid Madani
ATF is available to all.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is it easy way we could convert our existing workflow & get it onboarded onto Flow Designer for future enhancements or updates
-- Rashmi Panigrahi
There is no plan to make a workflow to flow migration tool. It has been attempted in the past, but decided against because of the complexity involved with the two different data models, options available, and so on.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can the Workspaces button be hidden if you haven't configured any workspaces for users yet?
-- Claire Ashdown
Yes. If there are multiple workspaces, you get a Workspaces menu with the list of available workspaces. If one is available, then there's no dropdown, only the single WS available on the menu bar. If no WS are available, there's no menu option displayed.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is it possible to have Application Scope/Update Set picker visible without having to click on button? It's possible in old UI to show them in top frame
-- Fredrik Palmqvist
I haven't seen a way with the standard OOB features at this point. I've heard this request several times already. Check the idea portal and upvote it!
-- Chuck Tomasi

What is the plan to move existing Service Portal functionality to the Next Experience / UI builder?
-- John Skender
Hi John! We are sticking with Angular Portal for enterprise portals. UIB/NowUX portals are to be internal use for now. One big thing we need to support is reactive browser views of UIB portals before we'd consider it prime-time for enterprise portals.
-- Jeremy Duncan

is the app repo an additional license? or is oob?
-- Brandon POrter
OOB, platform feature.
-- Jeremy Duncan

is the atuomatic software request integrated with SAM Pro and HAM Pro for licensing checks?
-- Marisol Tomey
Great question. Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with SAM and HAM to answer the question. It's one of those cases where you need to talk to your account team for more information.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is RPA Hub a licensed product? Does it require any additional agents installation in Customer network?
-- Goutam Agarwal
It is a licensed product.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Next Experience: are you going to update the documentation properly? Some things don't work when sticking to the docs, there is still a lot of investigation nowadays... Thanks
-- Jan Moser
Thanks for the comment. If you see something inaccurate with the docs, use the Feedback (thumbs up/thumbs down) at the bottom of the page and fill in details in the modal that appears.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will this Next experience be like UI17? Can I go back to the previous stalk version, if not liked?
-- Swarnadeep Nandy
End users cannot as there is no toggle/button in the preferences. Those who know how to go into the User Preferences table can do so if they like.
-- Chuck Tomasi

is workflow still supported in San Diego or everything is moved onto flow designer?
-- Rajat Malik
Workflow Editor isn't going away. We encourage using Flow Designer when possible, but understand there are needs for Workflow Editor.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Does the Configuration Template include Mid Server Clusters?
-- Curtis Rowell
Not at this point. It displays what is available from the list MID Servers > Servers. Sounds like a great suggestion for the idea portal though.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Which RPA tool are we going to use in the RPA Hub? Is it UiPath, AA or Blue Prism?
-- Swadesh Saraf
The desktop designer is our own tool we got through an acquisition with Intellibot. It's well integrated to the instance (e.g. calling Flows, or flows triggering bots) whereas third party tools would not.
-- Chuck Tomasi

With NLQ can you have the result set grouped by more than one column (first one column and then another)?
-- Edward Ravn
I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist - only that I don't know about it. Sounds like a great question for the community.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are there key shortcuts to access these menus
-- Santosh Sahoo
Not that I'm aware of. I'm a keyboard shortcut nut also. Sounds like a great suggestion for the idea portal (see the top menu on the community.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is the domain picker on MSP filterable as well?
-- Rob Corradi
Great question. I haven't seen it yet, but for consistency, I'm going to say yes. :)
-- Chuck Tomasi

is there a way to append requests to an existing order guide?
-- HY Luo
Requests are not configured as part of an order guide. An order guide lists catalog items, which generate request items. I'm not sure I understand the desired objective. If you can clarify in the comments below, or ask a new question on the community, I'm sure someone can jump in and help.
-- Chuck Tomasi

ITSM Mobile Agent plugin is not available for install in San Diego RTP?
-- Mary Claire Cenir
I don't know the specifics for ITSM. I recommend checking with customer support.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will documentation for San Diego go live?
-- John Ping
It went live shortly after our webinar on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will ServiceNow ever make enhancements to the Test Management 2.0 app? It's severely lacking in the ability to format the test step content and how the steps are presented during a run.
-- Matt Spangler
No further development is scheduled on that app as far as I'm aware.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Where is the Next Experience being used? All over the platform, portal, agent workspace?
-- Mark Wesbeek
Next Experience is what is built in UIB (Portal and Workspace) as well as some form view experiences - Agent Workspace is not a part of this framework.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Is openframe available for next experience as well?
-- Yvan Gemmet
Based on what I see in the documentation, it looks like it is. As always, when in doubt, try it on a sub-prod or PDI before upgrading prod.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does the Next Experience impact Service Portals?
-- Emmon Johnson
Answered Live Thank you
-- Jeremy Duncan

what about the custom list ui actions, will that also align on right hand side
-- Anurag Tiwari
Yes, all list UI actions are still there (including the ones you built.) Only the list has moved from the bottom of the list to the top of the page.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there a plan for the Next Experience to replace the UI16 in the future?
-- Ahmed Hussein
Eventually, UI16 will not be available, but for now you can use either.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Hey Chuck,Where did the update set and application pickers go?
-- Nishita Padwal
They are under the "globe" icon on the header bar.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Flow Designer for Change Management with recursion?
-- David Nottingham
Hi David, I'd be interested in hearing more about what you are looking for. Since flows and subflows can be called multiple times, I don't see why this would be an issue.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there any change on the date formats ? eg. do we have the DD-MMM-YYYY format now (03-FEB-2022)
-- Jean-Paul MILLET
If you go to the system dictionary entry for sys_user.date_format, you can add a choice to the list and it will render the date in the format you suggested.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can we get multi-language support for custom scripting in flow designer?
-- Teresa Gunn
I think I'd have to understand the situation better. There are best practices for writing script so it is multi-language capable (like using gs.getMessage().) If I've misunderstood your question somehow, feel free to elaborate in the comments below.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can you still get to the list context menu in the same way? Like getting to Configuration --> Business Rules
-- Claire Ashdown
Yes. The column header menus are still available. They are hidden by default and a "three dot" (aka traffic light) icon appears when you hover over a column header.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Regarding Next Experience - if we have it off globally, can an individual user still turn it on just for themselves?
-- Joseph Zitzelsberger
If you set the system property to false, then no. If you have the system property set to true, and the default user preference (system=true), it can still be turned on per user. Users cannot do that themselves as there it is not exposed in the preferences UI.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is the plan still that Employee Center will replace Service Portal? And did you just say that Employee Center will be replaced by Workspaces? How does Next Experience fit into all of this?
-- Melinda Ivok
While I'm no Employee Workflow expert, my understanding was that Employee Center was originally built using Service Portal. The direction is to get it into Next Experience/Workspaces. I don't have any further information, but I'll bet your account team does. ;)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are there OOTB change management flows in Flow Designer?
-- Andrew Wilmut
Short answer - yes.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will San Diego be available for PDI?
-- Jennifer Schoenhoeft
Yes, it became available shortly after this webinar was aired on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Did UI16 get replace by Next Experience?
-- Alex L
For now you can use either, but Next Experience is the direction we're taking for the UI in the future.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can we say Next Experience is UI17?
-- Tushar Walvekar
Why name something after a year that was 5 years ago? 🙂 (UI16 came out in 2016). It would make more sense to have called it UI22, but that's not going to happen at this point. Next Experience it is.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does the Import Hub allow user's profile pictures to be imported into Live Feed Profiles?
-- Caio Miranda
Hi Caio, can you please elaborate on this question? I assume you mean Integration Hub, which would be used for external integrations with other systems into ServiceNow.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Are the stage on flow designer can now be translated on multiple language ?
-- Michaël Collignon
Hi Michael, per the documentation for Workflow Stages, it is supported: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-servicenow-platform/page/administer/using-workflows/concept/c_WorkflowStageSets.html#c_WorkflowStageSets. Per our Flow Designer Product Manager, stages are not translatable as of San Diego. However, it is on the product roadmap.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Any plans to add nested mutations to the default GQL schema? as in create the parent record and any correlated sub records in one go?
-- Hristo Kojouharov
From one of our product managers, It is possible to create your own schema that accepts multiple levels and create the Glide records in your scripted resolver.

will Service Portal technology stay (for ESS/CSS) or will it be replaced by ??? somewhen ??? by Next Experience ??? or UX
-- Johannes Roduner
Service Portal will remain AngularJS/SCSS technology. The newer experiences like next Experience are based on standard web components.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Has there been any performance indicators for "Next Exp" vs. current? Just thinking back to List V3..
-- Erik Kyllingstad
Experience is a wonderful thing. As far as I know (and have encountered), there is no performance penalty with Next Experience. If anything, if feels faster (in workspaces particularly.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will ALL agent workspaces automatically be accessible and visible from the Workspaces list in the new UI, or do they need to be added manually?
-- Richard Smith
My understanding is that it only presents workspaces that you have access to.
-- Chuck Tomasi

will forms benefit from better performance?
-- Brian Kelly
I haven't heard of any performance talk with the current implementation of classic forms on the initial release of Next Experience. If you are experiencing any issues, you might want to reach out to the community. There could be a number of reasons why your forms are slow (e.g. very long related lists, complex client scripts that need to run, etc.) Take a look at the form performance on a fresh instance and compare as a baseline.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will the Learn integrations video series be available? The link is not working.
-- Sharon williams
Not sure what happened during the webinar. The link works fine. https://devlink.sn/learn-integrations
-- Chuck Tomasi

Was the Employee Center customized for the demo or will it look like the demo when we upgrade the instance to San Diego?
-- Sukhsagar Jaiswal
I'm not familiar enough with Employee Center to speak to that point. The focus of this presentation was on the App Engine, Automation Engine, and Platform updates in San Diego.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does Workflow Editor have an end of life date?
-- Steven Browne
I haven't heard of one. It's not receiving any more code updates, but there's no plan to remove it from the platform since so many customers have previous investments in it.
-- Chuck Tomasi

What's happening to old OOTB SAM workflows (Procurement process flow- software) ? Is that being changed to Flow designer?
-- Poonam Asuthkar
Unfortunately, I don't have any answer for you at this time. My scope of knowledge doesn't extend to SAM. Sounds like a great question for the community, exploring on a PDI, or you can always talk to your account team.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there a plan on flow designer for a possibility to go back steps rather than have to rerun the whole?
-- Manish Kumar
I don't know of a way to do that today. I'd be interested in your use case where you feel this is a requirement. It may be prudent to consider your flow logic and design accordingly. Perhaps make a subflow that you can call (like a function or a subroutine in coding.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

When does San Diego Release notes come out?
-- Charlie Elite
Release notes are available now on the docs site https://docs.servicenow.com
-- Chuck Tomasi

Great information gentlemen. Will you share the recording with us?
-- behrouz khosrownia
The recording is available on this page (embedded near the top) and on the Now Community YouTube page. Thanks.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Was this webinar recorded? I was not able to tune in!
-- Derek Slivicke
Yes, it's available on the community at https://devlink.sn/tn93blog. If you've clicked through the email to get here, look at the top of the post and you'll see the video embedded.
-- Chuck Tomasi

could please remind how to switch to new UI?
-- Pavel Zifcak
After upgrading to San Diego, ensure the system property glide.ui.polaris.experience is set to true.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is Employee Center replacing Service Portal?
-- Brian Good
Currently Employee Center is based on Service Portal technology. We are working to migrate it to Workspaces (Next Experience) technology.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will the SNUtils still be working on Next experience?
-- Swarnadeep Nandy
A great question for Arnoud Kooi. I heard he was making updates, but don't know of a release date. Keep you eyes on the SNUtils Twitter feed.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will the release notes come out?
-- Monica Johnson
They were made available shortly after this webinar aired on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are there new features for Catalog Builder in San Diego?
-- Gratsiela Stancheva
Unfortunately I didn't have time to explore other features in other domains (ITBM, ITSM, ITOM, CSM, etc.) I recommend checking the release notes.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are there any plans for an open Q and A with SN developers where we can just ask anything?
-- Mark Sandner
We do this periodically for our developer MVPs. Some product managers also appear on various video live streams. That would be topic dependent - for example, it wouldn't be valuable to add a Next Experience question in a webinar on project management. There's also conferences like Knowledge and CreatorCon.
-- Chuck Tomasi

We have used List Collectors in Flow without issue, but this changed in recent updates forcing the use of scripting. How can we make sure these issues do not occur again?
-- Mark Sandner
I invite you to reach out to support (https://support.servicenow.com)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are there keyboard shortcuts that will help us navigate the Next Experience?
-- Tim Deniston
There are. You can find them here. https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-platform-user-interface/page/use/navigation/reference/r_KeyboardShortcuts.html
-- Chuck Tomasi

I checked the link to San Diego Documentation but it is not yet showing San Diego, when might that be available?
-- Ken Neikirk
It was made available shortly after the webinar on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is it possible to create Agent workspace for an existing custom application in Sandiego's AES?
-- Anil Gurajala
Yes it is. Use the "Add" feature under the Experience section.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Hi, did SN change their logo color? in ServiceNow the "O" looks very light-green on e.g. https://www.servicenow.com/
-- Bas de Graaff
Bas! Great catch, yes! We now have a new color scheme!
-- Jeremy Duncan

Do we have final Release date for Public availabilty?
-- Mohit Kochar
The most recent date I heard in March 23, 2022.
-- Chuck Tomasi

will there be an recording of this event available?
-- Christoph Berthold
Yes! Check out https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_blog&sys_id=4d6eaeaddbd0dbc01dcaf3231f961964
-- Jeremy Duncan

Can PAD be used if we have some customization in place with backend table used for Cataloge task creation?
-- Rajat Malik
Hi Rajat, yes you can.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Will stages be available inside For Each Record actions?
-- Marisol Tomey
I just tried this and it appears that it's not available at this time. I'd love to hear the use case. Typically For Each loops iterate rather quickly.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does Flow Diagramming print well? Or would we just take a screenshot and print that? Some of our flows are quite large, so I'm guessing a screenshot might not be that usable
-- Tim Deniston
Currently I don't see a print feature. it would be roughly equivalent to a screenshot anyway, so you are right - if a flow was too complex, it wouldn't be all that useful. You'd be better of viewing it on screen where can zoom in/out.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Slide 38. is that only used for custom apps? can update sets be tracked via a code repo when it's not in a custom app?
-- Darren O'Brien
Source control and app repo is available to all apps and config changes starting with Quebec release (Q1/2021)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Do you know when will workflow be deprecated? And is there going to be a feature that will help those customer still using workflow to migrate over to Flow? i.e. Change Mgt Workflows.
-- Omar Jimenez
Hey Omar, there is not a date set for deprecating workflow editor at this time. Still reasons to use it for some customers.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Hi, is there going to be another TechNow Session on San Diego SecOps?
-- Patrik Zemánek
Hi there! We will only be doing TechNow for major releases going forward, but keep an eye out in the community and social networking for Security related webinars!
-- Jeremy Duncan

Is next experience is a homepage?
-- Perumandla Srikanth
Next Experience is a UI framework. https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-platform-user-interface/page/get-started/servicenow-overview/concept/next-experience-landing-page.html
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can the Application Set and scope pickers be docked to the top? I find it very important to see where I am without additional clicks.
-- John Ping
This has been a very common comment. I don't see it in the idea portal yet, so if you still don't see it by the time you read this, create a new idea (or upvote the existing one if it's already there.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Do the lists still support the "update multiple" by holding down the CTRL key?
-- Edward Ravn
Yes. The same multi-edit capabilities are available through the refreshed UI.
-- Chuck Tomasi

For someone looking to redo or refresh their portal experience, what would ServiceNow recommend: Angular based Portals or UIB portal
-- Madhav Mundra
For Enterprise: Angular For internal apps: NowUX (UIB) - We're working on UIB Portals to be more end-user focused. One big thing that will enable that movement going forward is enabling reactive viewing of UIB built portal pages.
-- Jeremy Duncan

When will the San Diego's Delta certification begins and ends for CSA and CIS?
-- Carlos Velasquez
Deltas are often available about the same time general availability is. Look for them later in March 2022.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Hi Chuck, Jeremy, Thanks for this. Are we touching something from tool today related to order guide sequential fulfillment?
-- Kirtiman Banerjee
Yes, it was covered in the presentation. If you missed it, you can find it in the video (embedded here) at 17:17
-- Chuck Tomasi

Love San Diego. For customer upgrading from Paris to San Diego it can be Earth to Jupiter - a huge change. What are the pitfalls ? Thanks!!
-- Poonam Asuthkar
Yes, you can upgrade past multiple versions. You'll want to go over the release notes for all the versions you'll be skipping because you'll get all that functionality in the process as well.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Was there a replacement for "Rollback" feature from workflow editor in Flow Designer?
-- Mary Claire Cenir
No. If you need a rollback in Flow Designer, you should reconsider the design of your flow. Since flows and subflows can be called/triggered multiple times there's really no need. Rollback was more suited for monolithic workflows whereas Flows are much more modular.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can you resize columns in Next Experience?
-- Jonathan Schneider
Workspaces yes, standard lists, no.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Hi Quick question, can we do activities which we do in audit management module through snow mobile app also.
-- Tanmay Tyagi
I'm not familiar with what you are referring to. If you can elaborate (and include some pics) in the comments, I can try to get you an answer.
-- Chuck Tomasi

is next experience compatible with Domain Separation?
-- Ruzbeh Valodwala
As far as I know, yes. It's just a UI refresh. As always check the release notes and try it on a PDI to confirm your suspicions.
-- Chuck Tomasi

If we haven't implemented ATF, should we wait unitl San Diego?
-- Joan Hager
There are quite a few features that might be worth waiting for. I'd pair that question with how long has it been sine you've done an upgrade and what version you're currently on. Sometimes it's good to let your previous upgrade air out for 6 months or so.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Is Flow going to be replacing Workflows in Request Management?
-- Emmon Johnson
Flows have been available in the Service Catalog for quite a few releases. If you are still constructing legacy workflows for your catalog items, I suggest you investigate how to leverage Flow Designer as part of your strategy.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Would be more useful for selecting a MID app vs a specific MID in the CCA templates?
-- Johnathan Webb
Configuration templates are modifiable if you like.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Could you use RPA Hub to pull files from a user to attach to records, such as a Change Request?
-- Chris Diorio
I'm not sure I understand the use case enough to provide a confirmed answer. In short, if you are doing a repeated task manually, there's a strong possibility that a robot could be created to do it.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can Next experience be applied only to the workspaces and not on the classic list and forms
-- Prity Sharda
We're in the process of applying the Next Experience technology to the entire platform. It's already on workspaces and as you saw in this video, we're working our way through the classic (aka platform) UI.
-- Chuck Tomasi

If we enable the next experience will users have an option to contunue to use UI16 similar to users that are still stuck on UI15?
-- Matthew Brock
The option is there, it's not user configurable (e.g. it's not in the preferences window.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does Next Experience mean that this view will be available to all users once the platform upgrades to San Diego?
-- Paula Onuta
It's available to all users in San Diego IF you enable it via the system property.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Hello Thank you for this session. Just wanted to know if there is any plans to depricate UI15 any time soon. Thank you.
-- Archana Bangera
I haven't heard of a plan, but that being said, I would strongly suggest looking at an migration plan. I don't believe it is supported any longer.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will the self service portal also upgraded to Next experience at the same time as fulfillers?
-- Praveen Gopu
We won't be upgrading any portals automatically. If you like, you can build an enterprise portal in App Engine Studio or continue to support the one you have in Service Portal.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will workflow changes get migrated to Flow Designer over time
-- Rashmi Panigrahi
Flow Designer's feature list exceeds that of the legacy workflow. There are some things that didn't make sense from an architecture standpoint (most notably rollback.) If there is something you would like to see in Flow Designer, be sure to add it to the idea portal (top of the page in the community.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Anything to streamline debugging platform slowness from the performance tracking tables ("slow transactions", "slow queries", etc)..? Meaning how to find the offending scripts/etc from these records?
-- Edward Ravn
Unfortunately I don't have an immediate answer for you on that one. Great question. Sounds like something customer support should be involved with.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Hi, Do you think the flow designer changes in San Diego will have any impact on the existing flows during upgrade? We had when we upgraded to Quebec, so just wanted to get your thoughts.
-- Sarath Kumar Raghu Raman
I haven't heard of any upgrade issues to Flows in San Diego. That being said, do some early investigation on a PDI, upgrade and test on a sub prod instance, and keep an open eye on the community for best results.
-- Chuck Tomasi

is this UX for Service Portal that we can use for end-users or is this for Fulfillers (native view too)?
-- Rammesh Rajagopal
What I showed for the Next Experience demo is the "backend" UI and has nothing to do with Service Portal.
-- Chuck Tomasi

How does the migration work ? is it a sort of "ON for all" switcher ? or can we migrate slowly team per team ?
-- Christopher Crefcoeur
I'm assuming you're talking about the Next Experience (UI)? If not please comment below. Currently it is a system property, so once it's on, all users see that. Exceptions can be made with user preferences as needed. If you want to do this in phased approach, you could set the system property to true, then make the default system preference false, and create user preferences for each user to true as you want to "turn it on" for them. Something to consider.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is the "Next Experience" an all or nothing change or can it be turned on for some users while other users stay on UI16?
-- Ian Eskey
Hi Ian, thanks for your question, it was answered live by Chuck by highlighting the System Property to change.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Next UI (I like "UI17"!) - for accessibility, will keyboard shortcuts Ctrl-Alt-F and Ctrl-Alt-I still work for Filter Navigator and Impersonation, respectively?
-- Christopher Hughes
Just tested. Seems to still work.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will San Diego be available in the Developer Program?
-- Emmon Johnson
PDIs can now be upgraded. The upgrade option became available shortly after this content aired live.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can CSA exam stop asking questions about Workflow? ;-)
-- Jacques Clement
In short, people still need to support existing workflows and as long as it's a platform feature, you can expect some questions on it - although the list of workflow related questions has been significantly reduced over the last couple years.
-- Chuck Tomasi

this is a problem if a step needs to be inserted. The flow variable names change, and existing scripts break. is this something that's going to change?
-- David Mawer
I think I understand by putting your previous question together. Yes, this is a known issue when using scripts in flows, which is one reason we are enhancing features like data pill transforms. I'll check with the product manager if auto-script modification is on the roadmap. It might also be a good idea to check if it's already in the idea portal and upvote it. If not, add it in.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will flows get on par with workflow from a performance perspective. If you need it run fast, Flows is not where you go
-- Matt Hedtke
I invite you to take a look at the more recent releases like Rome and San Diego. Performance has been a major development effort and many major advancements have been made.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Were there any updates to the state management in UI Builder? For example managing the state on the app level instead of page level?
-- Andrea Spaska-Cox
Hi Andrea, at this time I have not heard of this capability.
-- Jeremy Duncan

My users keep asking for dark forms, is that in the works?
-- Diane Ledbetter
Dark theme is available for Workspaces (not standard lists and forms yet) in the San Diego release.
-- Chuck Tomasi

is the next framework replacing now framework ? or the platform/classic view
-- Anil Vemulapalli
Next Experience is the name that encapsulates all the new desktop UI experience technology. The legacy (UI16) experience is being updated/refreshed to use the newer technologies. Next Experience is the new name for Now Experience.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are you adding trends in the aggregate rest API?
-- Hristo Kojouharov
I haven't heard of that, but it doesn't mean it hasn't happened (or will happen) - only that I haven't heard of it. Sounds like a great suggestion for the idea portal.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are flow Designer flows still slower than workflows?
-- David Johnson
Not that I'm aware. We've made a lot of performance improvements in the last few releases.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there any enhancement to ITSM pro ?
-- Karne Ratnaker Reddy
Unfortunately I don't know. My focus is on App Engine and the platform features for developers. I recommend checking the release notes for details.
-- Chuck Tomasi

How do you multi select in the list?
-- Patrick Laroche
Same as before. Click/drag, or Shift-down-arrow.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Where can I get a sweet ServiceNow Tie?
-- Matt Followell
I had mine custom made at knottytie.com. It's not even approved by our brand team (yet). If they do, maybe we can get something in a store... assuming we ever get a public facing swag store. :)
-- Chuck Tomasi

What is the way to Rollback in Flow Designer? Is this feature available same like workflows?
-- Prasad Pagar
No. If you feel you need it, I'd love to discuss to find out why. When I engage with others on this topic, it turns out that they are trying to use Flow Designer like the old Workflow (one big flow for everything.) That's a bad model to follow. Using smaller modular flows and subflows is far more effective and easier to maintain.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Next experience developed with UI Builder and UI Framework Now Experience?
-- Ludovic LARCHE
That's the direction.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is the San Diego Documentation available now? It's mentioned in the "Resource List" but doesn't link to San Diego Docs
-- Martin Bujold
It was made available shortly after the webinar aired on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is Agent Workspace (ITSM) being uplifted to Next Experience?
-- Karen Kingsley
Workspaces are already on the Next Experience technology (formerly known as Now Experience)
-- Chuck Tomasi

is there a guided tour for the next experience - our customers will have a meltdown the first time they see it.
-- David Gerard
I don't see anything out of the box and my initial tests show some issues with Guided Tour Designer and the Next Experience. I've brought this to the attention of our product team.
-- Chuck Tomasi

What enhancements have been made to the data structures of the Flow Designer especially the List Collector and its API?
-- Shubha Chakravarthy
Hello Shubha, as of San Diego, no enhancements.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Will there be a UI builder type of backend setup for next experience as well
-- Geetika Rana
Stay tuned..
-- Chuck Tomasi

Can the app picker be in the header then? if not update sets
-- Daniel Aldous-Critchley
At this point, it doesn't appear that it can. I've heard this suggestion before and suspect it may be in the Idea Portal. Look and give it an upvote. If it's not there, add it.
-- Chuck Tomasi

With the focus on "citizen development" how do we protect the platform from developers who only think about what they want to do and not how it affects the platform as a whole and create elements, such as flows, that conflict or contradict other elements/flows that already exist.
-- Robert Polickoski
That's the domain of a COE (center of excellence) to provide governance. You might find this helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqSHjEwXris
-- Chuck Tomasi

Consider a situation where two devs in a large team have modified same workflow or other object. Both have an update set that needs ot be moved to PROD. and neither one is aware that an update to that is in the other devs update set. Will App Repo support the proper consolidating/ordering of these modifications so they are moved in correct order?
-- Edward Ravn
The same rules apply to the app repo as they do for update sets - whomever updates last wins.
-- Chuck Tomasi

in apps like hr where you have 4-5 streams in different scopes, its nice to be able to see what scope u are in.
-- George Floratos
Sounds like a great idea for the Idea Portal. (See the menu option at the top of the community page.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

NEXT EXPERIENCE IS KIND OF SERVICE PORTAL OR IT IS FOR DEVELOPERS ONLY. SAW IT FIRST TIME SO LITTLE CONFUSED
-- shikha khanna
It has nothing to do with Service Portal. Think of it as a refresh to the classic/platform UI of lists and forms (for now.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Could you please clarify on Update Set discussed in SAN DIEGO?
-- Rajendher Mangalarapu
I'm not clear what the question is. Part of that is because I'm reading this several days after presenting the material, so I'm missing context. If you can elaborate in the comments I can work to get you an answer.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Learn integrations video series link is no working´
-- Rui Cavalheiro
Try this: https://devlink.sn/learn-integrations
-- Chuck Tomasi

I saw that ServiceNow San Diego started to use ServiceWorkers. Is there still a possibility to register his own ServiceWorkers?
-- Yvan Gemmet
Ivan, fantastic question. Technically, it is feasible, but there are some core understandings of the ServiceWorker code and where ServiceNow is already using it to be able to create your own and interface with our platform. Stay tuned and you just might see more tools to help in using this method.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Hi guys! The San Diego documentation link does not availab
-- Paulo Praxedes
It went live later in the day on Feb 3, 2022 (US time)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Would really like to see these webcast streamed live on YouTube. My team is having a lot of trouble viewing on this platform!
-- John Skender
John, thanks for the feedback and sorry to hear you're having issues.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Will this recording be available after? I seem to be having network issues currently
-- Scott Angehr
Hey Scott, yes, check out: https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_blog&sys_id=4d6eaeaddbd0dbc01dcaf3231f961964
-- Jeremy Duncan

Is Mobile going to get some kind of a 'proxy' feature in the event we enable IP filter security? Mobile systems out in the public cloud would be prevented from connecting as they won't have an IP which is configured in the whitelist.
-- Curtis Rowell
From one of our mobile product managers. We have something on the roadmap. "...mobile is working with the Auth team to deliver something called Adaptive Auth. This feature will allow mobile end users to connect to an IP Restricted environment, using any of our servicenow mobile apps. End users won't need to install a VPN."
-- Chuck Tomasi

What does the "Printer friendly version" of the UI look like?
-- Edward Ravn
Same as it did before (like something out of 2010.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is flow diagramming easily printable
-- Ruzbeh Valodwala
I don't see one at first look. If you feel you have a good use case, I recommend adding your suggestion to the Idea Portal (at the top of this page.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

the link to "learn integration video series' in the resource list seems to be broken
-- Shiraz Bhojani
Try this https://devlink.sn/learn-integrations
-- Chuck Tomasi

Does RPA Hub will be able to automate GUI Steps as well?
-- Rajat Malik
Yes
-- Chuck Tomasi

Thank you. And just another (similar) question. When are the SD SecOps release notes coming? I couldn't find it. Did I overlook it or is it really not there?
-- Patrik Zemánek
Release notes became available shortly after this webinar aired on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

I assume all client scripts, from platform to NEXT Experience, will be fine?
-- Elias Karamitsos
Yes, at this point, no modifications to client scripts need to be made (provided you did not do any direct DOM manipulation.)
-- Chuck Tomasi

Where's the applause button for this webinar? LOVE the new ATF functionality!!! Now I don't have to manually put a long timeout to give myself a breakpoint :D
-- Claire Ashdown
You just hit it! Thank you!!!!!! Agreed with you!
-- Jeremy Duncan

I tried navigating to the Resource List San Diego Documentation and didn't see any. When will release notes be available?
-- Lisa Wiegmann
It became available shortly after our webinar on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

The green box says Do Not Run on Dev Instances, it's incorrect.
-- Evan Miller
No, that is correct. You do NOT want to run the conversion process on dev instances. As stated in the presentation, once you do that, you cannot edit the app on that instance. Great for prod, not for dev.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are we getting Javascript ES6 on server sided scripts in San Diego?
-- Terry Lillo
Not yet. However, I did have a recent discussion with a product manager focused on the scripting experience and told him that I hear this request very often. He said it is on the roadmap to improve not just ES6, but several other things in the developer experience when it comes to scripting. I'm excited just to hear something has taken it on! There's hope!
-- Chuck Tomasi

Regarding implementing/releasing AES and the low code no code concept into your organization, the ServiceNow team should probably be prepared for plenty of support questions right? Would it be fair to say that you should setup a specific support team before going down that path?
-- Stefan Ojeblom
Great question Stefan. Yes, before unleashing your company's eager people, a citizen developer program, strategy, and center of excellence is in order. We have plenty of resources available on our website to help you with that. Your account team can help as well.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will the RPA Hub be included in existing App Engine licenses, or will it be a fully separate licensing model for RPA, like Integration Hub?
-- Erik Kyllingstad
Separate licensing
-- Jeremy Duncan

About the Next Experience, will we have the ability to open two tickets side by side like in UI15?
-- Sam Salameh
Side by side windows is best done with a workspace and provides capabilities beyond what UI15 can provide.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is Next experience replacing the standard platform UI?
-- Omar Jimenez
It's an option for now. I haven't heard if we are "turning off" UI16 in the future.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is the personalized list still available? I don't see it.
-- Greta Zuercher
Yes, the cog next to the list UI actions in the upper right.
-- Chuck Tomasi

what is the impact on performance with this debugging feature - can this be turned off and all the details around that would be helpful to know...
-- Chirag Suthar
I'm not sure which debugging feature you are referring to, I'm going to assume you mean the Automated Test Framework (ATF) breakpoints. If I'm wrong, please comment below. ATF's breakpoints and pause before rollback do not have any impact on performance that I've been made aware of at this point.
-- Chuck Tomasi

What licensing is required for PAD?
-- Tim Deniston
Hey Tim, PAD is platform capability that is tied to apps you are licensed for. See: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/rome-servicenow-platform/page/administer/process-automation-designer/concept/activate-process-automation-designer.html#activate-process-
-- Jeremy Duncan

Will Update sets be replaced with something else for moving code to multiple environments/instances?
-- Mary Claire Cenir
Yes. That capability has been in place for several years. It's called the Application Repository.
-- Chuck Tomasi

FINALLY!!! Flow Diagramming is here...
-- Shea Laughlin
Woohooooooo!
-- Jeremy Duncan

So...Flow Diagrammer View is basically...Workflow Editor? Which is good because Change Management in Flow Designer is insanely complex compared to Workflow, which is why we'll never move to it.
-- Chris Diorio
Totally understood and there are still reasons to use Workflow vs Flow Designer...much like there are still reasons to use update sets. The key is that they don't have to be exclusive.
-- Jeremy Duncan

where can I find a list of navigation commands?
-- Allan Nichwolodoff
I'm not sure which navigation commands you are referring to. If you can elaborate in the comments to this post, perhaps we can find the information you seek. Thanks.
-- Chuck Tomasi

can yu 'pin' the scope or update set picker into the header
-- George Floratos
Not at this time. Sounds suggestion for the idea portal.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is this new UI17 going to be available in San Diego on day one or later with patches?
-- Dmitry Vorontsov
To clarify....this is not being called UI17 :)...that was just my fun word....we will transition over time much like we have transitioned over time to using Flow Designer over Workflow Editor for workflows. But people still use both.
-- Jeremy Duncan

can we add Variables to the list view ?
-- Anupam Gupta
Not that I'm aware at this time, only fields can be added to lists otherwise the lists would get rather messy since variables are not consistent across records.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is the same thing avalible on Agent workspace console?
-- Rajat Malik
I'm not sure what "same thing" you are referring to. If you can clarify in the comments we can try to get you an answer.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Once Polaris is active system wide, will setting it back to false revert it back to UI16, or is it a one-way ticket?
-- Adz Saddique
Yes, you can change the the system property back to false and it will show UI16 the next time a user logs in.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will CSA certs require training on the Next Experience now?
-- Ramon De Jesus
Great question 55451! With any new release, you can expect that the upcoming certifications could possibly contain some pieces of the new release technology in the question bank. I unfortunately cannot answer what will specifically be covered, but https://www.servicenow.com/services/training-and-certification/certified-system.html is a great resource which will include an exam blueprint.
-- Jeremy Duncan

any major updates/changes in PAD and playbooks?
-- Toshit Bhatt
Yes, they were covered in the presentation.
-- Chuck Tomasi

When will release notes for San Diego be available?
-- Bryan Velasquez
They were made available later in the day on Feb 3.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there a way to 'convert' an app to use the app repo in Rome? Don't want to wait for San Diego
-- Norman Link
There may be a manual way to do this with the help of support, but there's no UI action like there is in San Diego.
-- Chuck Tomasi

will AWA be integrate with this view
-- Marik Daniel
Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to check yet. If I recall, it's all standard lists and forms, so it should be. I invite you to check it out on a PDI.
-- Chuck Tomasi

I guess my question might be cut short (tried to insert a line break), so I will repeat it. I had a suspicion that those blue links might become confused with 'invalid' choice options that are a slightly darker shade of blue in the new UI. What would be our options to alleviate that?
-- Antons Kijanica
Great question. The colors are different enough that invalid choices stand out from links. Additionally, in a reference field, for example, you would see all values in that column as links, whereas an invalid choice would be an exception. Hopefully you are addressing the invalid choices by correcting the data so as not to adversely impact reporting.
-- Chuck Tomasi

In a podcast heard something coming up as Workflow to Flow Converter Engine, when can we expect it ?
-- Rohit Bhadoria
There's nothing that I'm aware of from ServiceNow. Perhaps a third party is working on something I haven't heard of. I'd love to get the name and episode of that podcast to learn who is saying what.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is it possible to revert the NEXT experience if we choose to enable it on an existing instance?
-- Jonathan Sandoval
Yes, set glide.ui.polaris.experience to false or go to user preferences and set glide.ui.polaris.use (for system=true) to false.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is Polaris just a design change, or has any elements of the dev stack changed
-- Varun Hariharan
For San Diego, the standard lists and forms inside the content area are largely unchanged with the noted move of the list UI actions and the pagination statically on the bottom of the screen.
-- Chuck Tomasi

New UI Is impressive! Do we get a option to switch to UI16/UI15?
-- Varun Mallik
If you have access to the records in the user preference table, yes, you can switch back and forth. There's no UI component for end users to do so however.
-- Chuck Tomasi

How does Chuck get these Day1 bow ties ;)
-- Jason Kuhar
I knew about the update to the corporate brand a few weeks ago and designed/ordered the tie so it would be here on time. :)
-- Chuck Tomasi

So are we losing the capability to change the themes in ServiceNow. I use color coat environments ot make sure I know where I am.
-- Laura Kadar
Themes are coming.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is the Update Set picker still available from the user menu, or JUST the application scope picker? If it exists, does the Update Set picker contain a filter bar as well? ...Please?
-- Tim Woodruff
Not at this time. It is a common request and if it hasn't already been put in the idea portal (at the top of this page) I recommend you start a new thread to get it in and tell your friends to upvote it.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there a dark mode in the next experience?
-- Christian Wimmer
Yes. It applies to the workspace technology. The standard lists and forms are unaffected as of the San Diego release.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Could we expect React to come in the Portal Development? :)
-- Dimitar Stanchev
Our strategy is not not depend on a specific underlying UI technology as we've been "abandoned" twice already.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will document tasks work in the next experience? I believe it is not yet supported in workspace - unless fixed in San Diego! :-)
-- Peter Stanbridge
While I'm not entirely familiar with Document Tasks, if they are built with standard lists and forms, then it's most likely they are supported. I didn't see them on the list of upcoming enhancements. The best way to check would be to log in to a San Diego PDI and give it a try.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is EcmaScript 6 coming to server side scripting anytime soon?
-- Jakob Richardson
We're working on it. I had a strategy meeting with one of our product managers specifically about scripting and told him that request was at the top of the list.
-- Chuck Tomasi

What's new with Major Incident and measuring pain impact to enterprise and customers?
-- Thomas Hoffman
Unfortunately I don't know. That's outside the scope of this presentation and my expertise. The focus of this webinar was on App Engine, Automation Engine, and Platform Features in San Diego. For ITSM, you might want to check out the community for upcoming webinars and announcements.
-- Chuck Tomasi

does Next experience for all or only for agent?
-- Alex Pandian
It's available for everyone.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Will we be able to label our instances in the Next Experience header?
-- Bradley Perkins
The closest I could find would be to go to System Properties > Basic Configuration UI 16, and set the Browser tab title. It sets the browser tab as well as the contextual page pill (the bookmark at top center).
-- Chuck Tomasi

Whats that usic
-- Sundeep M
The music we use at the beginning and end of each show is an edited stock clip from Apple's GarageBand product.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Are the San Diego docs up?
-- Devin Valencia
Yes, they went live later in the day on Feb 3, 2022.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is there somewhere I can learn more about what to expect for the Agent Workspace in San Diego? Have heard various comments that the space will be far more configurable and overall improved.
-- Kenny Mitchell
As of Quebec (early 2021 release), we have configurable workspaces that are managed in UI Builder. Take a look at UI Builder and configurable workspaces in the docs. https://docs.servicenow.com
-- Chuck Tomasi

If flow designer is preferred way of work, is it possible to invoke REST calls without IntegrationHub?
-- Jakub Pobiecky
Flow Designer is definitely easier to build and maintain for general workflow stuff. When it comes to integrations, you COULD use scripts. However, that creates more technical debt. Be careful because I believe making REST calls via script still requires Integration Hub licensing, check with your account team.
-- Chuck Tomasi

What is the name of the page or screen called where it said 'So glad you've landed here' and it said 'Reviewyour work'. I can't find it
-- Daniel Aldous-Critchley
It's available as the landing page after you enable the Next Experience. Note that PDIs may use a different landing page.
-- Chuck Tomasi

any plans on opening up the websocket api for realtime data integration setups?
-- Hristo Kojouharov
Hello Hristo, I have not heard of any changes to the method in which we utilize websocket today, which is defined here: https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0829978. As websockets refer to AMB: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-platform-administration/page/administer/platform-performance/concept/AMB-metrics.html. As it stands, it would be limited to small amounts of data.
-- Jeremy Duncan

Next Eperience will impact existing ATF tests behavior ?
-- Thomas Langlade
At the moment, ATF is unsupported with Next Experience. it's on the roadmap (along with a few other features) that didn't make it into the San Diego release. For now, I'd stick with running ATF under UI16.
-- Chuck Tomasi

Tech master index resource link is not working
-- Rui Cavalheiro
Try this https://devlink.sn/technow
-- Chuck Tomasi

Is Rollback available in flow designer?
-- Mounika Tungala
-- Chuck Tomasi

expecting https://docs.servicenow.com/ to propose the Sandiego version, at the moment only Orlande/Paris/Quebec/Rome are availables
-- Charles Cognets (des)
It went live later in the day on Feb 3, 2022 (US time)
